Our Approach to ESG

Sustainability Management System

SK shieldus restructured its sustainability management framework to further strengthen its commitment to sustainable management. Through a materiality assessment, review by the Sustainability Committee, and approval by the Board of Directors, the company established mid- to long-term ESG initiatives and detailed implementation tasks. Progress and action plans for the newly established ESG Initiatives are reported to the management on a monthly basis.

  • Sustainability Committee

SK shieldus has established and operates the Sustainability Management Committee as a committee within the Board of Directors to establish strategies on ESG issues, report to the Board of Directors, and provide related advice.

  • ESG Management Group

To enhance its ESG management capabilities, SK shieldus has established and operates the "ESG Management Group," a dedicated ESG organization. The ESG Management Group Head serves as the secretary of the Sustainability Management Committee and carries out ESG-related tasks.

  • ESG Innovation TF

SK shieldus has classified the organizations closely related to ESG into three modules, namely environment (E), social (S) and governance (G), based on their duties and operated a TF consisting of the heads and working-level employees of the relevant organizations. The TF initializes ESG management and improving execution by publishing reports, implementing the company’s ESG management strategy practically, and gathering opinions from the field.

ESG Initiatives within the 5-STAR Initiative

SK shieldus selected 10 tasks according to its sustainability management policy among the 5-STAR Initiatives and stated the strong commitment of the management and the BOD to ESG management. We set the ESG innovation goal of transitioning to 100% electric vehicles (EVs), selected three tasks for each ESG item, and established detailed plans for each major activity and annual implementation goal. Through this approach, SK shieldus is systematically driving its sustainability strategy forward.

* The term '5-STAR' stands for '5-STrategy And Re-change' and was named through active participation from employees.

Transition to EV

To more actively respond to global warming, SK shieldus has set a new goal of converting 59% of its total fleet to electric vehicles by 2030, achieving this goal early in 2025, and has re-established the goal of converting to 100% electric vehicles by 2028.

Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy Adoption

SK shieldus is actively promoting energy conservation activities and the adoption of renewable energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We practice energy conservation through energy-saving campaigns, such as turning off lights during lunch and turning off PCs after work. We are also continuously expanding our renewable energy purchases through Green Premium bidding. With the expansion of electric vehicles, electricity usage for charging is expected to surge. To address this, we plan to introduce various renewable energy sources, including installing solar power generation facilities on our company rooftops, in addition to Green Premium.

SBTi validation

Since 2022, SK shieldus has been establishing its own targets and implementing reduction activities for direct greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1) and indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 2).
